Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms carefully before enrolling in any Equilearn program. They set out the basis on which we provide our services and outline your rights and responsibilities as a participant.
1. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your enrolment in and participation in any program, workshop, or retreat offered by Equilearn ("we", "us", "our"), a financial education provider registered and operating in Malaysia with its principal place of business at 40 Jalan Kemaman, Bangsar Utama, 59000 Kuala Lumpur.
By enrolling in a program or submitting an enquiry form, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms. If you are enrolling on behalf of another individual, you confirm that you have the authority to do so and accept these Terms on their behalf.
These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which together form the basis of our relationship with you.
2. Our Services
Equilearn provides financial education programs for adult learners in Malaysia. Our current program offerings include:
- Financial Awareness for Retirees — a four-session program covering EPF withdrawal management, healthcare cost planning, and retirement income awareness (RM 620).
- Understanding Sukuk & Islamic Investments — a six-session program covering Islamic capital market instruments, sukuk structures, and Shariah-compliant fund evaluation (RM 1,250).
- Financial Wellbeing Retreat — an immersive two-day residential program combining financial planning education with mindfulness practices (RM 3,800).
All programs are provided for educational and informational purposes only. Nothing in our programs constitutes financial advice, investment advice, legal advice, or any other form of regulated professional advice. Participants are encouraged to consult appropriately licensed professionals for decisions specific to their personal circumstances.
3. Enrolment & Eligibility
Our programs are open to adults aged 18 years and above who are residents of or present in Malaysia. Certain programs may have additional recommended prerequisites, which will be described on the relevant program page.
Enrolment is confirmed only upon receipt of full payment and a written confirmation from Equilearn. Submission of an enquiry or expression of interest does not constitute a confirmed enrolment.
We reserve the right to decline enrolment at our discretion, including in cases where a program's format may not be appropriate for a prospective participant's needs or circumstances. In such cases, we will endeavour to suggest suitable alternatives.
Group enrolments of three or more participants may be eligible for adjusted pricing. Please contact us directly to discuss.
4. Fees & Payment
Program fees are as published on our website and confirmed in your enrolment confirmation. All fees are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
Payment is due in full at the time of enrolment unless a payment arrangement has been agreed in writing with Equilearn. We accept payment via bank transfer, online banking, and other methods specified at the time of enrolment.
Your place in a program is not secured until full payment has been received. Equilearn reserves the right to offer your reserved place to another participant if payment is not received within five (5) business days of enrolment submission.
Fees are non-transferable to other individuals without prior written consent from Equilearn.
5. Cancellations & Refunds
We understand that circumstances change. Our refund policy is as follows:
- Cancellation 7 or more days before the first session: A full refund will be issued, less any non-recoverable booking or processing costs (not to exceed RM 50).
- Cancellation within 7 days of the first session: A 50% refund will be issued. The remaining amount may be applied as credit toward a future program, subject to availability.
- Cancellation after the program has commenced: No refund will be issued for completed sessions. Participants who need to withdraw may apply for a partial credit toward a future program at Equilearn's discretion.
To cancel your enrolment, please contact us in writing at [email protected] or by calling +60 3-2283 6491. Refunds will be processed within 14 business days of approval.
If Equilearn cancels or significantly reschedules a program for any reason, participants will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to an alternative date or program at no additional cost.
6. Program Delivery
Programs are delivered as described on our website. Session schedules, venue details, and any additional requirements will be communicated to confirmed participants in advance.
Equilearn reserves the right to make reasonable changes to program content, facilitators, schedule, or delivery format where circumstances require. We will provide participants with reasonable notice of material changes.
For in-person programs, participants are expected to arrive on time and attend all scheduled sessions. Equilearn is not liable for loss of learning arising from a participant's absence from sessions.
For the Financial Wellbeing Retreat, accommodation, meals, and transport between the retreat venue and Kuala Lumpur are included as described in the program details. Any additional personal expenses are the participant's own responsibility.
Recording, photographing, or otherwise capturing any part of a session without prior written permission from Equilearn is not permitted.
7. Intellectual Property
All materials provided in connection with Equilearn programs — including but not limited to handouts, worksheets, slides, digital resources, and written guides — are the intellectual property of Equilearn and are protected under Malaysian copyright law.
Participants are granted a personal, non-transferable licence to use provided materials for their own learning purposes. Materials may not be copied, shared, reproduced, distributed, or used commercially without prior written consent from Equilearn.
The Equilearn name, logo, and related marks are proprietary to Equilearn. Nothing in these Terms grants participants any right to use our trademarks or branding.
8. Conduct & Participation
We ask that all participants contribute to a respectful and constructive learning environment. Equilearn reserves the right to ask any participant to leave a session or program if their behaviour is disruptive, disrespectful, or harmful to other participants or facilitators.
In such circumstances, refunds will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and are not automatic. Equilearn's decision in this regard is final.
Participants are asked to maintain the confidentiality of personal information shared by other participants during sessions, consistent with the spirit of a trusted learning environment.
9. Disclaimers
Equilearn's programs are educational in nature. All content is provided for informational purposes and does not constitute financial, investment, legal, tax, or any other form of professional advice. Participants should not make financial decisions based solely on content covered in our programs without seeking independent professional advice appropriate to their situation.
While we take care to ensure the accuracy of program content, financial information, legislation, and market conditions may change. Equilearn does not warrant the completeness, currency, or accuracy of any information provided in its programs.
Past performance or outcomes described in case studies or examples do not indicate or suggest future results.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Equilearn's total liability to a participant in connection with any program shall not exceed the fees paid by that participant for the relevant program.
Equilearn shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including loss of income, opportunity costs, or financial decisions made in reliance on program content.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Malaysian law.
11. Personal Data
By enrolling in a program, you acknowledge that Equilearn will collect and process personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. This data is processed in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).
We use participant data to administer enrolment, deliver programs, communicate relevant updates, and — with your consent — to inform you of future programs that may be of interest.
12. Changes to These Terms
Equilearn may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to enrolled participants by email and will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
Continued participation in a program following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For changes that significantly affect your rights, we will seek your explicit confirmation where required by law.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
We encourage participants to contact us directly in the first instance to resolve any concerns informally and constructively.
